Linda Newnham

Linda originally trained as a nursery nurse , a qualification which took her from the Special Care Baby Unit to the French Alps (working for a tour company). She then gained her nursing degree at Bournemouth University after which she broadened her knowledge on various units at Dorset County Hospital. In 2003 she left the surgical department to join us as a practice nurse here at Queens Avenue. Linda has the “Heartsave” diploma in coronary heart disease and is one of our diabetes nurses.

Pauline Newnham

Pauline NewnhamPauline Newnham (no relation to Linda) qualified as an Enrolled Nurse in 1981. After further training through Bournemouth Univerity she qualified as a registered General Nurse in 1996. Her background has been in Theatre Nursing and Pauline worked in the Weymouth & District Hospital for 10 years and also the Day Surgery Unit at Dorset County Hospital. Pauline then moved into Practice Nursing and has worked at different location in Weymouth for 16 years before joining Queens Avenue Surgery in September 2014.

Demelza Spencer-Veale

DemelzaDemelza studied at Bournemouth University where she gained her RGN qualification and spent several months during this period working in a hospital in Ottawa, Canada. She started her nursing career working in Orthopaedics and Trauma and specialised in this at Southampton University. Demelza then moved into practice nursing and achieved a BSC(hons) in Enhanced clinical practice in lower limb and wound management.  She also has achieved Diplomas in Asthma, Copd and Diabetes, and has  trained with the Association for Respiratory Technology and Physiology to perform and interpret spirometry and is on the ARTP register. Demelza moved from primary care in Weymouth to join the team at Queens Avenue in February 22.

Healthcare Assistants

Jodie Philpott

Jodie joined the practice as our newest Healthcare Assistant in May 2019.  She has been working in healthcare for over 10 years.  In that time she has worked in residential care homes and as a Healthcare Assistant with the Dorchester District Nurses.  She recently achieved her Level 5 in Health and Social Care.

Helen Milham

Helen is our Phlebotomist and Healthcare Assistant.  Her background is in Frontline Emergency Care and she has worked on Emergency Ambulances for Southwestern Ambulance Service Trust for 16 years prior to joining the nursing team in November 2020. Helen
