Physiotherapists

Our physiotherapy service is provided by a team of experienced physiotherapists from Dorset County Hospital. If you are referred for physiotherapy your treatment will take place at Dorset County Hospital. The first appointment will last approximately 40 minutes. During this time you will first be asked questions about your problem, then the physiotherapist will need to examine you. To achieve this you may be asked to remove some items of clothing. Please make sure you are wearing appropriate underwear or have shorts or a sleeveless top to put on. You are welcome to bring someone to accompany you if you wish. When the examination is complete the physiotherapist will explain his or her findings to you, then will discuss the most appropriate way to manage your problem in order to obtain the best long-term outcome. It is usual for patients to be given a regime of exercises to do between appointments to assist your rehabilitation. These exercises are a vital part of your treatment and it is important that you are willing to make time to do these exercises daily as instructed. Physiotherapy is a very popular service offered at the surgery and there is usually a waiting list. If you are unable to attend your appointment, please help us by informing the hospital physiotherapy department with as much notice as possible so this time can be offered to another patient.
